Global Peace Development (GPD) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in April 2002 and focuses on promoting peace for development in Nigeria. The organization envisions a country where peace and development is enjoyed by all. GPD seek to build peace, gender equality, social justice, and foster democracy and governance at the community, local, state, and national levels.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Director of Finance and Administration

Location: Garki, Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Director of Finance and Administration will provide strategic financial leadership, ensuring the effective management of the organization’s financial resources, strict compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and overall operational efficiency.
  • The role involves overseeing the organization’s finance department and providing leadership across budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, human resources, and administrative functions.
  • The Director of Finance and Administration will report directly to the Executive Director, and only candidates who are professionally chartered (ICAN, and ANAN) will be considered for this role.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce financial policies, internal controls, and procedures in line with donor and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, donor financial reports, payroll, and cash flow.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to donors, management, and the Board of Trustees.
  • Conduct financial risk assessments and ensure timely internal and external audits to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Ensure adequate compliance with Withholding Tax and statutory obligations across GPD operational states.
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure full compliance with grant agreements and donor financial reporting requirements.
  • Support fundraising and proposal development through sound financial planning and budgeting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Accountancy is mandatory.
  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in financial management, and administration within an NGO or donor-funded organization.
  • This position is strictly open to fully chartered professionals (ICAN and ANAN).
  • Non-chartered applicants will not be considered.
  • Strong experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or SAGE.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi stakeholder environment.
