Benin Electricity Distribution Plc. (BEDC) is one of the retail electricity distribution companies licensed by the federal government Benin Electricity Disco (“BEDC” or “Benin Disco”) is one of the successor distribution companies (Discos) created following the unbundling and privatization of the state-owned Power Utility, Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc. BEDC is responsible for retail distribution of electricity in Delta, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo States with geographical coverage of 55,770 square kilometers. The company operates from twenty five (25) business districts with approximately 350 offices located across the four (4) states with about 13 million people and about 4 million households.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Database Administrator / Software Developer

Location: Benin City, Edo
Job Type: Full-time
Department: IT Department
Reports To: Chief Information Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and optimizing BEDC’s disparate databases
• Key driver of ongoing Data Governance project
• Ensure data accuarcy and accessibility
• Provide support and to other IT functions
• Provide support for the development and security of critical software and web assets.
• Drive compliance to policies affecting database management.
• Any other function that may be assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related courses
• Relevant certifications will be an added advantage
• Have 2 – 3 years experience in similar role
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and skillsAbility to multitask
• Able to work in a fast paced environment and under high pressure.
