Job Title: Cyber Security Engineer

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Summary

• The Senior Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s security architecture and controls to protect systems, networks, and data.
• This role leads technical security initiatives, responds to advanced threats, and partners with IT and business teams to embed security into infrastructure, applications, and operations.

Key Responsibilities
Security Engineering & Architecture:

• Design, implement, and maintain security solutions across network, endpoint, cloud, and application environments
• Evaluate and deploy security tools such as PAM, MDM, SIEM, EDR, DLP, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners
• Develop and maintain security standards, architectures, and technical controls

Threat Detection & Incident Response:

• Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts and incidents
• Lead incident response activities including containment, eradication, and recovery
• Conduct root cause analysis and post-incident reviews

Vulnerability & Risk Management:

• Lead vulnerability scanning, penetration testing coordination, and remediation efforts
• Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
• Work with infrastructure and application teams to remediate security gaps

Cloud & Infrastructure Security:

• Secure cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) including IAM, network security, logging, and monitoring
• Implement security best practices for servers, endpoints, and network devices
• Support secure configuration management and hardening standards

Compliance & Governance:

• Support security compliance initiatives (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, PCI-DSS, etc.)
• Assist with audits, regulatory reviews, and third-party risk assessments
• Maintain security documentation, policies, and procedures

Collaboration & Leadership:

• Act as a technical security subject matter expert for IT and engineering teams
• Mentor junior security engineers and analysts
• Provide security guidance for projects, system implementations, and architectural reviews

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5–8+ years of experience in cybersecurity or security engineering roles
• Strong hands-on experience with security tools and technologies
• In-depth knowledge of network security, operating systems, and cloud platforms
• Experience leading incident response and vulnerability management efforts

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industry certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, GCIH, OSCP, CCSP, Security+)
• Experience with SIEM platforms (Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar, etc.)
• Knowledge of scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD security
• Familiarity with zero-trust architectures
