Job Title: CPiE Officer

Location: Borno

About the Job

  • The CPIE Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing child protection and inclusion strategies to ensure the safety and equitable participation of children in all program activities.
  • This role involves developing policies and practices to safeguard children, promoting their rights, and fostering inclusive environments that cater to the diverse needs of all children.

Main Responsibilities
The CPIE Officer will be responsible for the following, including those not listed but are extensions of those expressly stated:

  • Coordinate with Caseworkers to provide comprehensive Child Protection Case Management Services to Unaccompanied, Separated, and Other Vulnerable Children in line with the Case Management Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct assessments to identify child protection risks and concerns in emergencies.
  • Monitor the situation of children and families, including potential threats to their well-being.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, and community-based organizations, to coordinate child protection efforts.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children, ensuring their protection is prioritized in emergency response and recovery efforts.
  • Directly engage with adolescent boys and girls and parents as required, and work with mentors to ensure the quality of the program.
  • Represent the organization in the child protection sector in coordination meetings and forums.
  • Support children and their families’ psychosocial (physical, social, emotional) well-being.
  • Train Volunteers and community members on child protection principles and practices.
  • Engage with community members to raise awareness of child protection issues and build their capacity to identify and respond to protection concerns.
  • Facilitate the participation of children and their caregivers in the design and implementation of child protection programs.
  • Promote community-based child protection mechanisms and support their sustainability.
  • Ensure appropriate child-friendly spaces and time schedules are tailored to the physical and mental needs of the children based on age group and gender.
  • Supervise project implementation to ensure timely delivery of project activities (for example, monitoring against individual performance management work plans).
  • With support from the Coordinator, develop monthly and quarterly plans and costed plans, contributing towards an overall thematic program plan.
  • Submit detailed weekly and monthly activity reports to the Program Coordinator
  • Consistently maintain referral pathways of project locations.
  •  With support from the MEAL Officer put in place accountability activities for the project, ensuring that feedback from children and their families are considered in project design.
  • Supervise project implementation to ensure timely delivery of project activities (for example, monitoring against individual performance management work plans).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child Development, Human Rights, or a related field.
  • Relevant certification or training in child protection, inclusion, or child rights.
  • Proven experience (at least 2 years) in child protection, inclusion, or related fields, with a strong understanding of child rights issues and best practices.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with children, families, and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data management and reporting tools.
