Job Title: Cost Control Manager (Industrial Catering)

Job summary

• A Cost Control Manager oversees project or operational expenditures to ensure financial efficiency, budgetary compliance, and profitability.
• They are responsible for developing cost baselines, tracking actual costs against budgets, conducting variance analysis, and forecasting final costs.
• They frequently work in construction, manufacturing, or engineering, managing teams to implement cost-saving strategies and reporting financial performance to senior management.

Core Responsibilities

• Budget Development and Tracking: Develop comprehensive cost baselines, monitor daily/monthly project expenditures (labor, materials, equipment), and track commitment and accruals against budgets.
• Forecasting and Reporting: Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis (earned value management) to identify and explain discrepancies.
• Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and evaluate financial risks and opportunities.
• Contract Administration: Review variation payments, verify contractor/consultant invoices, and manage commercial aspects of contracts.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and train cost control analysts and professionals.
• Process Improvement: Establish and improve cost management procedures and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 4+ years of experience in cost control, budgeting, and forecasting, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial management software, Excel, and project management tools.
• Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
