Job Title: Construction Procurement Officer

Job Overview

• We are seeking a seasoned Procurement Officer with proven experience in the construction industry to manage our supply chain and sourcing operations.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing high-quality construction materials, heavy equipment, and subcontractor services while negotiating cost-effective deals to keep our building projects on budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Construction Material Sourcing: Source, evaluate, and purchase essential building materials (cement, rebar, aggregates, asphalt, piping) and specialized construction equipment.
• Vendor & Supplier Management: Build and maintain a reliable network of vetted suppliers, sub-contractors, and manufacturers; conduct periodic vendor performance evaluations.
• Negotiation & Cost Control: Negotiate competitive prices, credit terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost savings without compromising material specifications or site quality.
• Purchase Orders & Documentation: Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs), review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and ensure accurate tracking of all procurement records and invoices.
• Logistics & Site Delivery: Coordinate with project managers and site engineers to ensure timely delivery of materials directly to active project sites to prevent workflow delays.
• Inventory & Waste Control: Monitor site delivery receipts against orders to eliminate discrepancies, reduce wastage, and prevent material loss or theft.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Supply Chain Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of direct procurement and supply chain experience strictly within the construction, civil engineering, or building sector. (Mandatory)
• Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction materials, market pricing, local supply chains, and reading Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Skills: Strong contract negotiation, inventory management, vendor relations, and analytical skills.
• Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP software, or dedicated procurement/inventory management systems.

Important Note:

• Direct experience in civil or building construction procurement is critical.
• A minimum of 4 years of verified procurement experience within the construction sector is strictly required.
• Applications without construction-specific experience or with less than 4 years of experience will not be considered.

Salary
N150,000 – N200,000 / month (Based on experience).
