Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Serving as a link person between the hospital and the community and between the hospital and relevant governmental agencies
Monitoring of patients’ vital signs
Patient education through health talks and counselling
Participation in antenatal care and conduction of deliveries in low-risk pregnancies
Performing simple bedside tests using appropriate test strips and other simple tools
Administration of first aid in emergency situations
Assisting with medication administration where appropriate
Supervision of lower-level staff, such as health attendants
