Damnaish Human Capacity Building Initiative (DHCBI) is a Humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization, founded in 2014 and incorporated with the Nigerian Government (Corporate Affairs Commission) in 2015 (CAC/IT/No 83231) to provide humanitarian assistance, in terms of emergency and Capacity building, social development and empowerment to eradication poverty and the fear of want. It has since its inception, been strategizing, collaborating, and interfacing with relevant stakeholders toward enhancing the individual’s ability to break free from poverty or bounce back in times of crisis.

Our society has over the years been bedeviled by insecurity, poverty, illiteracy, disease, hunger, malnutrition, lack of access to clean, water bad sanitation, human rights abuses environmental degradation as well a lack of economic opportunities, making it possible for the humanitarian crisis to thrive. DHCBI, therefore, has tailored its humanitarian services to building or restoring the capacity of individuals and communities towards rapid and quick recovery by supporting livelihoods and sustainable basic services through some articulated programs.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Communication Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Position Overview

• We are seeking a creative and motivated Communication Officer to join our team.
• The Communication Officer will play a key role in shaping DHCBI’s public image, enhancing visibility, and ensuring effective communication of our mission, projects, and impact.
• The role involves managing multimedia content creation, social media platforms, and visual storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies to promote DHCBI’s activities.
• Create engaging content including graphics, videos, infographics, and reports.
• Manage DHCBI’s social media platforms, ensuring timely updates and audience engagement.
• Document organizational activities through photography and videography.
• Design newsletters, brochures, flyers, and other communication materials.
• Support program teams with communication needs, including success stories and field updates.
• Monitor and analyze communication reach and impact to inform strategies.
• Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Media Studies, Graphic Design, Journalism, or a related field.
• Proven experience in video production, photography, and graphic design.
• Strong proficiency in design and editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Final Cut Pro, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms professionally.
• Excellent writing, storytelling, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multitask effectively.
• Creativity, attention to detail, and a strong sense of initiative.
