GOALPrime Organization Nigeria (GPON) is a National Non-profit Non-Government Organization with a mandate of Making life better for vulnerable children and women across nations. Following the challenges, children are facing to have adequate support from social services and institutions to access basic amenities for their growth and development across nations. GPON is saddled to provide complementary support to vulnerable children across nations to attain personal growth and development. GOALPrime Organization Nigeria is presently operating in Northeast Nigeria and FTC where we have reached over 2,000,000 lives (directly and indirectly) with integrated services, we support internally displaced persons with emergency relief materials, Child Protection services, WASH services, GBV mitigation services, Livelihood skill building, Health services, Peacebuilding and Education support services. GPON work in both emergency and development context.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Communication & Advocacy Officer

Location: Borno

Job Description
Communication and Partnership Building Ensured:

  • Captured human interest stories, videos and briefs showcasing the impact of GPON work on the ground are developed in collaboration with programme managers to enhance GPON’s resource mobilization efforts.
  • Developing programme communication strategy and plan of action strategically developed and formulated, and the implementation effectively managed, facilitated and executed for social and behavioural change in support of efficient and effective programme delivery.
  • Ensure culturally relevant programme communication materials are designed, pre-tested, and produced on time, meeting requirements and quality standards.
  • Create strong partnerships with community groups, leaders, media and other partners in the community and civil society developed and enhanced to promote participation in social and behavioural changes supportive of programme goals.
  • Effective training materials and activities organized, developed and implemented to build capacity in participatory and behaviour communication at various government levels.
  • Advocacy support and facilitation of knowledge building and management :
  • Supports relevant, high-impact advocacy activities and campaigns with key partners and donors.
  • Collects knowledge on current and emerging trends by gathering relevant information on programmes, projects, strategies, approaches and ongoing experience for lessons learned best practices.
  • Contributes to knowledge networks and communities of practice

Capacity building support:

  • Develops training materials and activities to build capacity for participatory and behaviour change communication.
  • Develops training materials and activities in capacity building in participatory and behaviour change communication for personnel involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programme communication intervention, in support of programme sustainability.
  • Reviews the allocation and disbursement of programme funds, ensuring that funds are properly coordinated, monitored and liquidated.
  • Takes appropriate actions to optimize the use of programme funds. Improves programme efficiency, quality and delivery through a rigorous and transparent approach to programme planning, monitoring and evaluation.

Media:

  • Support the provision of high-quality analysis on the humanitarian situation in Northeast Nigeria, pertaining to displacement-affected, contributing to improved GPON programmatic response and informing internal and external advocacy products;
  • Visit field programmes on a regular basis to collect quality, videos, and testimonies and write stories about IDPs in Camps and Host communities, for external and internal use
  • Build a database of high-quality activity videos for GPON archives.
  • Support programme staff in incorporating and integrating advocacy into all aspects of GPON’s programme activities, strategy and budgeting;
  • Actively network with peers from other likeminded organizations involved in the response, and lead on the development of joint field-based advocacy towards target audiences;
  • Draft and deliver necessary reporting documents related to the advocacy, communication & media strategy/strategies, including Advocacy and media Key Messages;
  • Participate in relevant fundraising opportunities for advocacy and contribute to the development of quality proposals, ensuring the inclusion of advocacy activities on specific humanitarian and protection issues affecting displacement-affected where appropriate;
  • Develop and maintain a media network with international and local journalists and advise on media engagement ;
  • Write a summary of weekly activities
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor

Key Working Relationships:

  • Reports to: C4D Manager
  • Supervises: None,
  • Other relationships: support operations and programs teams, local authorities, and NGO counterparts.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

  • Degree or Certificate in Photography, Film Production, Fine Arts, Visual Communications, Journalism or other relevant fields. If no degree is held, the candidate should be able to demonstrate a wealth of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in photography, Journalism, film production or visual communications.
  • Fluency in English; fluency in Hausa and Kanuri is desirable.
  • Experience working in the field in Northeast Nigeria or other high-security field locations.
  • Knowledge of concepts in the field of resilience, humanitarian assistance
  • Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro).

Conditions:

  • Availability: 2.01.2023.

Salary and Conditions

  • In accordance with GPON Terms of Employment.
  • The income will be subject to statutory deductions as per applicable Nigerian laws.
  • The employee is responsible for the tax returns.
