Job Title: Civic / National Values Teacher

Location: Jalingo, Taraba
Employment Type: Full-time

Core responsibilities

• Instruction and curriculum: Plan and deliver lessons on government structures, democratic values, political systems, and civic rights and responsibilities.
• Student engagement: Create an inclusive and participatory classroom environment that fosters critical thinking, open dialogue, and respect for different viewpoints.
• Assessment and feedback: Prepare assignments, quizzes, and exams; grade student work promptly; and use student data to monitor progress and adjust teaching methods.
• Classroom management: Ensure a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment for all students.

Administrative and collaborative tasks:

• Parent and staff communication Attend meetings with parents and other professionals to discuss student progress and development.
• Professional development: Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
• Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of student grades and progress.
• Resource management: Prepare and distribute learning materials and ensure the classroom has the necessary supplies and aids.

Professional requirements and skills

• Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s / Master`s Degree with 2 – 10 years experience.
• Subject matter expertise: Deep knowledge of civic education principles, democratic values, and government structures.
• Instructional skills: Ability to use a variety of instructional techniques, deliver personalized instruction, and encourage lifelong learning.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage students, parents, and colleagues.
• Analytical skills: Proficiency in critical thinking, problem-solving, and analyzing social issues.
• Adaptability: Ability to stay updated with current events and adapt lessons accordingly.
