Job Title: Chinese Translator

Location: Daywater Man College, Abeokuta – Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Interpreting spoken Chinese in real-time during business meetings, conferences, and other events
• Translating written documents from Chinese to English and vice versa
• Proofreading and editing translations to ensure accuracy and clarity
• Researching specialized terminology and industry-specific concepts to ensure accuracy in translations
• Working with interpreters, linguists, and other professionals to ensure successful translations
• Liaising with clients and colleagues to ensure understanding of translations
• Assisting with the development of language and culture-related materials
• Interpreting cultural nuances in both Chinese and English to ensure accuracy
• Assisting with the localization of Chinese websites and other digital content
• Creating and updating glossaries and translation memories for future reference and use.

Requirements

• Interested candidates should possess an HND qualification with 1-10 years work experience.

Skills and Competencies:

• Fluency in both written and spoken Chinese and English
• Ability to accurately interpret and translate written and spoken Chinese and English
• Knowledge of Chinese culture and customs
• Familiarity with business and professional terminology
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency with computer programs and translation software
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Attention to detail and accuracy in translation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
