How Can you Make a Difference?

  • You would help the UNICEF Nigeria country programme deliver more effectively in key defined areas.
  • You would drive the innovation agenda for the country programme, and continue to improve the planning, and monitoring of the country programme applying innovative technology to track results.
  • You would also be responsible for improving the relevance, quality, availability, and use of data and contextual information on children and women throughout UNICEF and externally.

Summary of Key Functions / Accountabilities

  • Within the delegated authority and under the given organizational set-up, the incumbent may be assigned the primary, shared, or contributory accountabilities for all or part of the following areas of duties and key results.
  • Applying the best global practices on strategic planning to the Nigeria country programme.
  • Implementing the monitoring and accountability framework, ensuring that results are monitored and tracked systematically throughout the country programme using the best tools and techniques available.
  • Implementing an innovation strategy focused on the key bottlenecks for programme implementation.
  • Development of innovative ways to management data including dissemination.
  • Managing implementing partnerships, both with the Government and with civil society partners.
  • Management.

To Qualify as an Advocate for Every Child you will have…

  • Advanced University Degree in Social Science or other relevant disciplines.
  • Practical training in programme management and monitoring, survey and research analysis, and/or applied statistical data analysis. with some statistics and analytical skills or other fields related to the work of UNICEF
  • At least ten years of experience at national and international levels in programme/project planning and management with significant experience in data dissemination/interpretation in the sectors of concern to UNICEF and knowledge of new technical developments and software in data dissemination and some experience in data analysis and other areas of applied statistics.
  • Professional technical expertise in data analysis and dissemination specifically related to UNICEF-related indicators.
  • Proven expertise in displaying data for use by government policymakers, partner organizations, and the general public.
  • Fluency in English and another UN language. Fluency in the national language of the duty station is an asset.

  • UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions.
  • Appointments are also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF.
  • UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment without compensation if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained or necessary inoculation requirements are not met within a reasonable period for any reason.
