Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

Location: Abule-Egba, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • The Chief Operating Officer (COO) shall report to the Group managing Director (GMD) and is empowered by the GMD to lead the day-to-day sales and service operations of the Company in accordance with the strategic plan and capital budgets.
  • Developing the organization, directing its operations and translate the corporate strategy into actionable operating plan for efficient business execution.
  • Collaborate with other executive management in developing and overseeing the long-term business strategies of the organization.
  • Assess and develop mitigation plan on principal risks associated with the business within sales and services operations (proposals, projects, and staffing).
  • Develop a strong commercial and operational-focused strategy to drive results and growth by building on the existing customer service structure and operational performance.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for P&L’s to achieve and exceed annual sales target.
  • Build positive image/brand of the company by maintaining relationships with local, international businesses and government and the public; maintaining employee commitment to the company and enforcing ethical business practices.
  • Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, customer focus and service and encourages individual integrity.
  • Provide advisory role to the GMD on current and future business investment decisions of the organization.
  • Manage all sales and services strategies with company’s OEMs, clients and vendors and contractors.
  • Responsible for executing the sales and service operational activities in line with the directives of GMD to secure maximum/sustainable profitability and achieve a competitive advantage in the oil and gas industry.
  • Report to the GMD in a prompt manner on the conduct of the day-to-day operations of the business towards the achievement of its established goals and of all material deviations from the established goals or objectives and policies.
  • In collaboration with other executive management, develop an annual operating plan that supports the organization’s long-term operations strategy.
  • Create effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external processes.
  • Foster a growth oriented, positive and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management accountable to company policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure the development of health and safety practices for the organization and oversee compliance with those practices.
  • Drive the preparation and submission to the preliminary annual company budget and ensure that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within the approved budget.
  • Drive the sales and service business of the organization to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Implement cost control mechanical and monitors revenues and expenditures to avoid wastage.
  • Manages feasibility study for new projects; conducts research and compiles information for GMD and Investors.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or its equivalent in any discipline.
  • Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 15 years work experience in the Oil & Gas industry in a similar senior role
  • Prior work experience showing increasing levels of responsibility with a focus on operations, leadership and managerial position in a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, communication and high problem solving skills.
  • Strong experience and background in business development
  • Business Intelligence and understanding of the competitive environment
  • Project Management Skills
  • Negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Strong business planning and Knowledge of regulatory issues
  • A solid grasp of financial analysis and performance metrics.
