Ibadan Business School (RC: 972642) was incorporated on the 17th day of August, 2011 under the Company and Allied Matters Act 1990 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with the primary objective of promoting the growth and advancement of business education within and outside Africa. The School is also licensed by the Centre for Management Development (CMD) of Nigeria- the operational arm of the Nigerian Council for Management Development (NCMD) which is the statutory body charged with the responsibility of regulating the standards of Training and Development Institutions in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Chef

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Chef will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring the consistent preparation and delivery of high-quality meals, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and managing kitchen staff and inventory.
  • The role requires strong culinary expertise, creativity in menu development, and the ability to work efficiently in a hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities
The Chef’s responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Plan menus in line with budget, customer needs, and the availability of seasonal ingredients.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared to excellent quality standards and served in a timely manner.
  • Oversee all kitchen operations and ensure smooth daily workflow.
  • Coordinate kitchen staff and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain work schedules for kitchen staff to ensure proper coverage and efficiency.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure timely ordering of kitchen supplies and ingredients.
  • Take daily stock of ingredients and kitchen equipment and maintain accurate records.
  • Develop new recipes and introduce fresh methods to keep the menu innovative and appealing.
  • Stay updated with current industry trends, culinary innovations, and customer preferences.
  • Receive customer feedback and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations within the kitchen area.
  • Create menus that meet the needs and expectations of hotel guests and customers.

Requirements
Education and Qualifications:

  • Certificate from a recognized culinary school (mandatory).
  • Additional certifications in food safety or hospitality management will be an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience working as a Chef, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.

Other Requirements:

  • Employment is subject to a six (6) month probation period, during which either the employee or the company may terminate employment with one (1) week notice.
  • Must be physically fit and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, cleanliness, and strong work ethics at all times.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and menu planning.
  • Ability to lead and supervise a kitchen team effectively.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and stock management skills.
  • Creativity in recipe development and menu innovation.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

Salary
Salary and benefits shall be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and will be discussed during the hiring process.
