Division: Corporate Services

Mission

  • Support the implementation of MTNN’s Government Relations Strategy at state and local government levels, with particular emphasis on providing timely advisory on policies and laws (bills) enacted at state assemblies, securing regulatory resources (permits and approvals), stakeholder engagement, community liaison, and related challenges.

Description

  • Maintain effective corporate relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers at the state, local government area, and community levels to channel the goals and desires of MTNN effectively.
  • Provide advisory services regarding government-related issues at the state and local government levels and maintain a strong ethical relationship between MTN and these relevant institutions to ensure the long-term viability of the business.
  • Identify potential government policies, programs, legislation, regulations, and plans with possible impacts or risks to the business and develop strategies to help mitigate such vulnerabilities.
  • Provide an informed opinion on all issues relating to MTNN from a state and local government relations perspective, including new government policies, programs, legislation, regulations, plans, etc.
  • Manage disputed issues, illegal or multiple taxation, and other matters at the state, local government, and community level to eliminate disruptions, and minimize costs and negative consequences for the business.
  • Provide legal and regulatory support to regional teams and divisions, to ensure compliance with extant laws and subsidiary legislation.
  • Ensure prompt payment of legitimate taxes and levies to states and local government authorities.

Qualifications
Education:

  • Law Degree (LL.B. and B.L.)
  • Fluent in English

Experience:

  • 3–7 years’ experience in Legal Practice in a law firm
  • In-house practice experience in a medium organization
  • Community relations and multi-layered stakeholders’ management.
