Job Title: Account Reconciliation Officer

Job Summary

• The Account Reconciliation Officer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records by reconciling various accounts, identifying discrepancies, and resolving outstanding issues.
• This role plays a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial reporting and internal controls.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor all banking activities to detect irregularities.
• Perform monthly reconciliation reports regarding all SAP and Bank transactions.
• Perform reconciliation and verification of accounts regarding vendors’ accounts and bank accounts.
• Maintain constant contact with the company’s vendors on their transactions.
• Reconcile and rectify all General ledger accounts.
• Reconcile accounts that fall into receivable records with the sales invoices.
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual management accounts.
• Adhere to corporate standards and procedures in all reconciliation activities.
• Improve personal skill set regarding software proficiency, financial analysis, and data processing.
• Track all inventories regularly and report to the line manager with the inventory records.
• Investigate all transactions to prevent fraud.
• Provide feedback to the accounting unit on how to improve on internal controls, and also pinpoint areas where risks relating to transactions can be minimized.
• Provide documentation to support all financial transactions.
• Reconcile and report discrepancies in different accounts.
• Assist auditors – internal and external – with the documentation required for the auditors to do their job satisfactorily

Qualifications

• HND or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as ACA is an advantage
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in account reconciliation, bookkeeping, or accounting is preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
• Experience with accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
