Job Title: Account Lead (Finance)

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly competent and commercially minded Account lead (finance) to oversee accounting and financial operations while providing strong financial oversight across operations and supply chain activities.
• The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience within an FMCG, Distribution, or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods environment, with a strong understanding of inventory, distribution, logistics, cost control, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Warehouse, and Management teams to ensure financial accuracy, operational efficiency, compliance, and effective cost management.

Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting:

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely financial records.
• Prepare and review financial reports, reconciliations, journals, and management accounts.
• Monitor receivables, payables, cash flow, expenses, and financial transactions.
• Ensure proper documentation and approval of financial transactions in line with company policies.
• Conduct regular bank, cash, supplier, customer, and ledger reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cost-control initiatives.
• Monitor financial controls and identify discrepancies, risks, and areas for improvement.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with applicable accounting and statutory requirements.

Operations & Supply Chain:

• Provide financial oversight for warehouse, inventory, logistics, procurement, and distribution operations.
• Monitor inventory movements, stock valuation, stock adjustments, and inventory-related costs.
• Review and reconcile warehouse and distribution transactions with financial records.
• Monitor logistics, transportation, handling, and other supply-chain-related expenses.
• Work with Operations and Supply Chain teams to identify cost leakages, inefficiencies, and control gaps.
• Support inventory counts, stock reconciliations, and investigation of variances.
• Analyse operational costs and provide financial insights to support business decisions.
• Ensure appropriate financial controls across the end-to-end supply chain process.
• Collaborate with Operations, Warehouse, Procurement, and Sales teams to improve efficiency and profitability.

Business Support & Reporting:

• Provide accurate financial and operational reports to Management within agreed timelines.
• Analyse business performance, costs, margins, inventory, and operational trends.
• Provide actionable financial insights to support decision-making.
• Participate in process improvement, automation, and implementation of financial controls.
• Ensure effective collaboration between Finance and other business functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a Related Discipline.
• Professional accounting qualifications such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent are an added advantage.
• 4–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in an FMCG, Distribution, Manufacturing, or related environment.
• Current/recent experience in an FMCG or Distribution company is required.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, reconciliations, inventory accounting, and reporting.
• Practical understanding of Operations, Warehouse, Logistics, Distribution, and Supply Chain processes.
• Strong analytical, numerical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting/business applications.
• Experience with Tally accounting software will be an added advantage.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and meet strict reporting deadlines.
• Strong communication, integrity, ownership, and organisational skills.
