We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Account & Administrative Officer

Location:Apapa, Lagos

Role Overview

  • Manage our daily financial transactions, regulatory compliance, and office operations. In this dual role, you will be the operational backbone of our agency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and verify Customs Assessment Notices to ensure accurate duty payments via the Nigeria Single Window Trade Portal.
  • Process timely payments for shipping line charges, terminal dues, and container deposits.
  • Track container return timelines and aggressively pursue container deposit refunds from shipping lines.
  • Prepare detailed invoices and debit notes for clients, cleanly separating agency fees from official port cost reimbursements.
  • Compute and file monthly statutory tax returns (VAT and WHT) to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
  • Conduct post-clearing reconciliations to calculate precise profit margins for every shipment.
  • Maintain an airtight, organized archiving system for all clearing files (Bills of Lading, Form M, PAAR, Packing Lists).
  • Track and renew corporate operational licenses with the CRFFN, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, and Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
  • Monitor specific cargo approvals and regulatory permits (e.g., NAFDAC, SONCAP, NESREA).
  • Track container free-days closely to alert the operations team before expensive demurrage charges accrue.
  • Coordinate field clerks and dispatch riders for physical document presentations at various port commands.
  • Manage general office upkeep, utility bills, and procurement of essential office supplies.

Requirements & Skills

  • Education: HND or B.Sc. in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in a dual Accounts/Admin role specifically within a Nigerian freight forwarding or logistics company.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of the NCS Trade Modernization project, port terminal operations, and shipping line procedures in Nigeria.
  • Attributes: High integrity, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure to meet strict vessel and terminal deadlines.
