Job Title: Social Performance Lead

Job Description

  • Responsible for the management and reporting of company’s social performance activities. This may include identification and analysis of the social context, problems, conditions, trends and plan specific to company’s operational area and develop complementing social programs
  • Review periodically the Social Investment Strategy and management of Social Impact as outlined in the Social Performance Plan
  • Build the competence and talent pipeline in the business for technical authorities in Social Performance to enable succession planning and in role development that ensure the right competence and effectiveness of workforce is maintained at all times.
  • Act as the Impact and Risk Specialist, with responsibilities for co-ordinating cross-functional identification of social impacts and resulting business and project risks, mitigation measures and indicators to track their efficiency and effectiveness. The management of all non-technical risks associated with projects is critical.
  • Develop the competence requirements or assessment process for appointment of Authorised Persons (AP) and SME in Social Performance
  • Provide guidance to company as it relates to its compliance to statutory IFC’s Environmental and Social Performance Standards
  • Act as the SME for Cultural Heritage, Indigenous People Management, and Involuntary Settlement, and offer necessary guidance such that company is always in compliance
  • Grievance Officer accountable for developing and implementing a site-level grievance management procedure and strategically manage an active grievance mechanism on behalf of company and utilize the feedback tool with its commitments register to proactively manage the issue within the community space before they snowball into crisis
  • Handle the social crisis management function for the business and at all project sites

Requirements
Education:

  • A University Degree preferably in a social science or comparable discipline
  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or Social Science or Engineering or any comparable discipline from a reputable University
  • A minimum of ten (10) years postgraduation experience, out of which five (5) must have been in a social performance or social investment function in a reputable organization preferably in the Oil & Gas industry or in a reputable Consulting firm (KPMG, PwC, Accenture, etc.)
  • Certification/Membership of relevant Communications/Public Relations professional bodies such as – International Association of Business Communicators (IABC); Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR); International Public Relations Association (IPRA) is an added advantage
  • Must be able to manage and report on company’s social performance activities, as well as handle the periodic reviews of the social investment strategy and management of social impacts
  • Manage non-technical risks associated with projects and business operations with responsibility for co-ordinating cross-functional identification of mitigation measures and indicators to track efficiency and effectiveness. This will include management of a robust site-level grievance management procedure/mechanism to proactively handle all social crisis that may emerge for the business and at all its project sites
  • Have good knowledge of Cultural Heritage, Indigenous People Management, and Involuntary Settlement, sufficient to offer necessary guidance on compliance as may be required.

  • In accordance with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Content Act of 2010 requirement, AEWA is actively recruiting Nigerian professionals with expertise in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry
  • The selected candidates will join AEWA’s clients in its goals to create sustainable value to the Nigerian Economy through systematic development of capability and capacity transfer to Nigerian workforce.

Compensation

  • Compensation and grade level will be commensurate with the professional training and experience of the successful candidate.
