Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.

Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Summary

  • The Senior Technician (MCC/LV Motors & Switch Gear Maintenance) will be responsible for repairs and maintenance of electrical equipments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all plant patrols of all Electrical equipment (especially the MCC/LV motors & switchgear electrical equipment) are executed as assigned daily.
  • Execute preventive maintenance activities on electrical equipment as assigned daily.
  • Execute corrective maintenance activities on electrical equipment as assigned whenever assigned.
  • Execute condition monitoring of electrical equipment as assigned daily.
  • Ensure all reports of maintenance activities are reported on IBM Maximo daily as assigned.
  • Report all abnormal observations during maintenance activities to your line reports and follow-up.
  • Support and assist the technicians and individuals on training in their learning for prompt development.
  • Ensure safety guidelines and safe work procedures are strictly adhered to on and off maintenance activities.
  • Ensure awareness, understanding, and application of Quality & HSE policies in all assigned tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with and apply departmental and process objectives in daily operations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with non-compliance to EGBIN IMS requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all company codes of conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Engineers/Lead Engineers, Section Head and H.O.D.

Education & Work Experience

  • Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or its equivalent in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical knowledge of all electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of the working principles and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Basic understanding of operation principles of electrical equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of various electrical tests on electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and environmental aspects
  • Monitor spare inventory management for electrical equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
