OppApp is a new early-stage Educational technology (EdTech) and Service Provider startup based on an ambitious & exciting, yet realistic product vision. Africa is the world’s youngest continent and expanding the fastest. The number of young people working in Africa will rise to 375 million by 2030. The International Monetary Fund estimates that by 2035, there will be more young Africans joining the workforce each year than there are in the rest of the world put together due to population growth on the continent. The number of young individuals looking for work is much higher than the number of opportunities that are open to them. The skills of young people entering the workforce and the needs of companies are also out of sync.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Project Manager (Sweat Equity)

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos (Remote)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The individuals who will be hired for this position will be given a significant amount of equity given that the company is at ideation stage. The person is fully remote.
  • The company is in its pre-seed with interest from few VCs once an MVP is made and possible grants from NEAR protocol.
  • We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Senior Project Manager. Ideally, we want someone with previous startup experience who has experience in all phases of the design process.
  • We are looking for someone to join our Executive Team as our Senior Project Manager reporting to our CEO, who is passionate about helping organizations win and bringing out the best in people.
  • We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager. This individual may have the opportunity to work on business/financial systems, infrastructure, and transformation projects. The person in this role may manage Project Managers and others. This position location is Lagos, though the team currently work a remote schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the project work plan, work breakdown structure, and schedule.
  • Manage of all assigned projects consistent with customer objectives and strategic plans.
  • Manage the activities of cross-functional project teams and ensures the adherence to the project plan.
  • Deploy best practices approach defined by the PMO and the Project Delivery Services team.
  • Work to control change, adjust the budget, timeline, and project scope to accommodate approved changes.
  • Identify and escalate project risks and issues.
  • Collaborate with Resource Allocation Manager to ensure associates with required skills are available to support the implementation of new system/solutions.
  • Produce timely, detailed summaries and high-level reports including project schedule, actual vs. budget, and project progress reports.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Regional Directors and Product Directors to align all projects with customer’s strategic objectives
  • Collaborate with Resource Allocation Manager to ensure associates with required skills are available to support the implementation of new system/solutions.
  • Oversee and guide Project Managers to excel in the tasks above.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree / Bachelor’s Degree qualification with 5 – 8 years work experience.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and their budgets in a heavily regulated, compliance-driven enterprise environment.
  • Experience managing Project Managers.
  • Experience creating and managing project plans using a PPM tool such as MS Project or Clarity.
  • Experience managing projects in a matrix setting.
  • Experience managing business systems, software/infrastructure implementation, or integration projects.
  • PMP or knowledge of SDLC or structured methodology.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
  • Refined presentation skills and experience participating in/presenting at meetings with executive leadership.
