Job Description


OppApp is a new early-stage Educational technology (EdTech) and Service Provider startup based on an ambitious & exciting, yet realistic product vision. Africa is the world’s youngest continent and expanding the fastest. The number of young people working in Africa will rise to 375 million by 2030. The International Monetary Fund estimates that by 2035, there will be more young Africans joining the workforce each year than there are in the rest of the world put together due to population growth on the continent. The number of young individuals looking for work is much higher than the number of opportunities that are open to them. The skills of young people entering the workforce and the needs of companies are also out of sync.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title:  Senior Business Analyst (Sweat Equity)

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos (Fully Remote)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The individuals who will be hired for this position will be given a significant amount of equity given that the company is at ideation stage.
  • The company is in its pre-seed with interest from few VCs once an MVP is made and possible grants from NEAR protocol.
  • We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Senior Business Analyst. Ideally, we want someone with previous startup experience who has experience in all phases of the business analysis process and is an expert.
  • We are looking for a highly energetic and collaborative Senior Business Analyst who can Lead / work individually with the development, QA, product owners’ team and adhere to standardized BA policies, processes and documentation standards, overseeing and/or participating in all aspects of the Project Life Cycle.
  • The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for participating in all phases of the project life cycle.
  • The ideal candidate is expected to be experienced in the legacy – preferably mainframe and latest technologies like Azure, AWS, GCP etc., The candidate should be a proven self-starter with demonstrated ability to make decisions and accept responsibility and risk.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with domain experts and IT leadership team is key to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Leads analysis of business requirements to determine design/product/engineering requirements.
  • Works to gather, analyze, document, and communicate business requirements through in-person and remote meetings with business partners and outside vendors
  • Translates business requirements into functional requirements for product and engineering teams by applying a structured process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and leading change)
  • Supports applications and solutions delivery by participating in UI/UX design reviews and engineering stand-ups, grooming and planning to communicate requirements and validate proposed solutions
  • Reviews UX/UI design documentation to ensure that requirements are correct, unambiguous, and verifiable
  • Assists in generating use cases/user stories to ensure that all functional requirements are captured
  • Identifies any potential roadblocks on the project and proactively communicate with project and product teams
  • Clearly articulates and documents business requirements for ITS and business partners
  • Partners with the business to identify the appropriate data sources and analysis methodology to meet business needs
  • Identifies opportunities to improve business process and efficiency through supporting the app implementation and application development
  • Performs impact analysis and supports application testing, implementation and training activities as needed
  • Must be available to work as needed to honor project commitments, meet deadlines, and support assigned business area needs (e.g., nights and weekends).
  • Experience with legacy (mainframe) and cloud stack (Azure, AWS/GCP) Preferably with PEGA workflow exposure For this role, we value:
  • Strong experience business analyst working in a financial profile with application migration experience
  • Mindset and hands on experience in working with legacy and cloud technologies
  • Strong experience in working agile environments.
  • Experience in managing SCRUM cycles’ scope along with SCRUM Master and product owner.
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and provide solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and effectively engage with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong work ethic demonstrated attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in requirements gathering, business modelling, project scoping, and use case creation.
  • Knowledge of software development/delivery processes such as Agile/SCRUM/Kanban and demonstrated experience gathering requirements in such environments.
  • Expertise in utilizing standard requirements documentation tools / utilities.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess an HND / B.Sc Degree with relevant work experience.
