Job Title: Merchant Credit Manager

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Merchant Credit Manager to lead the development and management of credit facilities for PalmPay’s merchant partners.
  • The Merchant Credit Manager will play a pivotal role in driving financial growth and ensuring that our merchants have access to the credit solutions they need.

Key Responsibilities
Credit Facility Development:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of credit analysts and credit sales officers.
    • Set clear performance goals and provide ongoing guidance and feedback.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Credit Product Development:
    • Collaborate with the product development team to design and refine credit products tailored to merchant needs.
    • Continuously assess market trends and competition to enhance credit offerings.

Credit Risk Management:

  • Credit Assessment:
    • Oversee credit risk assessment processes, including financial analysis and credit scoring.
    • Ensure thorough due diligence in evaluating merchant creditworthiness.
  • Policy Development:
    • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
    • Monitor and adjust credit policies to mitigate risk effectively.

Relationship Management:

  • Merchant Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with merchant partners.
    • Provide guidance and support to merchants regarding credit options and financial education.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and compliance, to optimize credit processes and deliver excellent service to merchants.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Performance Monitoring:
    • Monitor the performance of credit facilities and the portfolio’s health.
    • Provide regular reports and insights to senior management.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and reporting.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Proven leadership experience in credit operations or credit risk management.
  • Strong analytical and financial assessment skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of fintech credit products and market dynamics.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to credit operations.
