Job Title: Experienced Personal Cook / Chef

Job Summary

• Prepare meals in the private home of the Employer according to employers’ recipes or tastes,handling all meals for the family and other household staff.
• Stock, organize, and clean kitchens and cooking utensils.
• Shop for or order food and kitchen supplies and equipment timeously.
• Serve meals and snacks to employing families and their guests.
• Plan menus according to employers’ needs and diet restrictions.
• Plan and prepare food for parties, holiday meals, luncheons, special functions, and other social events.
• Direct the operation and organization of kitchens and all food-related activities, including the presentation and serving of food.
• Flexibility to travel with employers to vacation homes to provide meal preparation at those locations.
• Specialize in preparing fancy dishes and/or food for special diets.
• Create and explore new cuisines.

Education, Skills & Experience

• Candidates should possess an OND qualification.
• 3 years of professional cooking, either in a domestic position or assisting another Chef.
• Training with a culinary school will be an added advantage.
• Experience working in a fine dining restaurant.
• Have a good understanding of various styles of table service, party protocols and the job duties of other household staff.
• Ability to maintain a record of family and guest preferences.
• Demonstrated ability to creatively make last-minute changes, special requests and the differing personalities being served.
• Possess a thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and nutrition.
• Demonstrated ability to shop carefully for quality and safe products including food itemsand kitchen wares.
• Excellently manage the kitchen for efficiency, cleanliness, minimal waste reduction and cost effectiveness.
